Houston Wedding Flowers by Season

Houston isn't New York or Napa — our heat and humidity change what blooms well and when. Knowing your season helps you plan a bouquet and centerpieces that actually hold up on your day, not just look good in a Pinterest photo. Here's what we recommend by season, based on 39 years of growing relationships and Houston weddings.

Spring (March–May)

Best months for: garden roses, peonies (short local window — book early), ranunculus, sweet peas.

Spring is Houston's most forgiving season for delicate blooms, before the real heat sets in. Peonies have a narrow availability window here — if peonies are a must-have, tell us early.

Summer (June–August)

Best months for: dahlias, zinnias, tropical textures (anthurium, ginger), garden roses in shaded arrangements only.

Houston summer heat is real — delicate petals like peonies and garden roses struggle outdoors past late morning. We design summer weddings around heat-hardy blooms and smart placement (shade, air-conditioned reception spaces) so your florals look as fresh at 9pm as they did at 9am.

Fall (September–November)

Best months for: dahlias (through October), chrysanthemums, amaranth, marigolds.

Marigolds & Cempasúchil — a fall option most florists won't offer you

If your family celebrates Día de los Muertos or simply loves the warmth of marigold tones, fall is when we can bring cempasúchil into bridal work — bouquets, aisle markers, altar-inspired reception details. It's a genuinely Houston East End touch, rooted in the same heritage as our shop, not a trend borrowed from someone else's culture.

Winter (December–February)

Best months for: ranunculus, anemones, amaryllis, evergreen textures, classic reds and whites (this is also Valentine's season — book early if your date lands nearby).

Houston winters are mild enough that we have real flexibility here — this is often the easiest season for matching a specific color vision exactly.
